"The first words that came out of my daughter’s mouth were melodic, as if she were singing a song”. Shauna Madinah entered into this world on November 21st in Berkeley, CA and was born into a very musical family. From her grandmother being an extraordinary pianist, right down to her mother's wonderful musical ear and father's amazing vocal and musical talent. Her creative genes even go back as far as the early 20th century as she is a relative of one of the greatest American novelists, known by his pen name, Mark Twain.
Her parents knew early on that there was a rare talent in their daughter and that talent needed a way to be expressed. She was enrolled in dance class by age 4 and by the time she turned 5 she had already experienced her first live performance singing in front of a large audience. From there her modeling, acting and voice over career began to take off in San Francisco. By the time she turned 6 she was chosen to be represented by one of the Bay Area’s top agencies, LOOK Talent, where she booked many jobs appearing in national television commercials and print ads, earning her S.A.G. membership at a young age.
Shauna Madinah's career as an entertainer took off quickly. Her passion was intense and she was driven to be the best. Her family being moved by her strong will, never say die attitude and exemplary work ethic, gave their support and their constant encouragement. Over the years it is their love and belief that has been the anchor that has kept her grounded.
Madinah has done it all cutting her entertainment teeth as a lead singer in the Musical “ Little Shop of Horrors” to professional performances in the musical “ A Christmas Carol” as well as many others. She was one of the highlighted soloist in the elite High School Madrigal Choir as well as many other elite choir groups in Northern California. We don’t want to bore you with all her credits, but check out what this “little young diva” has accomplished: • At seven she landed her first musical theater role in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". • While performing in “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, Madinah was given the opportunity to travel with a prestigious group of professional young performers called "Dynamite" that put on large scaled productions for major corporations and many entertainment venues nationwide, including Disneyland, for a period lasting three years. • Participated in numerous National competitions and performances as well as dancing on prestigious cruise ships. • Her vocal training prepared her for many styles including pop, country, hip hop, musical comedy, R&B, soul and opera. • She wrote and performed an original song called “Constant Changes” for her high school graduation ceremony that brought people to their feet. One of Madinah’s most memorable moments was singing back up for Shania Twain. Although she wasn’t a stranger to performing in front of thousands of people and large crowds, this was definitely a defining moment and she knew it was time to literally move forward. That’s when she packed up and moved to Los Angeles, right after High School.
With the continued support of her family and friends Madinah knew that her dreams and visions were starting to manifest. She wrote and sang many demos for top female artists such as Paula Abdul, Celine Dion etc. In Madinah’s more recent years she has branched out into many facets of the music and entertainment world such as producing, song writing, scoring film projects, engineering, mixing, editing and moved into many different business aspects of the music Industry. She owns her own state of the art recording studio and entertainment conglomerate. She is a young woman wearing many hats, a true multi faceted individual bursting with promise.
Madinah’s music has attracted the recognition of world leaders such as Nelson Mandela which featured her music at his birthday party in the Vodacom Stadium in South Africa and from that opportunity she was invited to the humanitarian based gala “United for a Better World” in Monaco along with other ambassadors for peace such as U2’s Bono, Angelina Jolie and many others who attended this prestigious event.
In 2008 she joined forces with Academy Award winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. on the campaign for President Obama, which, in doing so, received an invitation to perform at the Inaugural Purple Ball in Washington D.C. She was one of the writers who wrote and scored the music for the critically acclaimed documentary “Occupation 101” which has received multiple awards and considered one of the most educational documentaries of our time dealing with the subject of human justice. Madinah sang lead vocals in the Sony animated film “The Swan Princess” in 2012. She also wrote, sang and co-produced a soulful ballad on the soundtrack of the movie “The Obama Effect” with other Grammy award winning artists such as Ce-Lo Green.
In the past couple years Madinah has ventured into the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) market when she wrote, produced and sang the music of the international fitness craze “Piloxing” which has been featured on shows such as “The Steve Harvey show”, “Good Morning LA” and many other daytime shows featuring Piloxing.
Going back to the theatre a little bit, Madinah was cast in the Off Broadway Musical production of “The Little Black Dress” written by Tony and Oscar award winning director Nolbert Brown Jr. which toured the US.
More recently she has journeyed back into the soulfulness of her voice. She is evolving as an artist and going back to her roots, taking a path into the country music genre. Shauna has been working with various up and coming country singer/songwriters from California to Nashville and broadening her catalog as a writer and artist. She is going back to the basics. The new music coming from her is more true to life, soulful and something we all can relate to. Mixing genres, which should come as no surprise, with her amazing crossover genre abilities. Her new project is a mix of country, soul and Americana. Taking her clear tone and powerful vocal ability to simplified instrumentation and rhythm to produce a new soulful country feel for all ages to enjoy.
Madinah is a new breed of songstress that combines musical lyrics with a message of love, peace and harmony with music that relates true to life songs that go straight to the heart. She as an artist is dedicated to making a difference in this world using music, love and kindness to leave her mark on this planet. Even the worst critic after experiencing the wind from her golden pipes had to say, “This is a voice having the purity of an Angel." So many that have heard her all say the same. That says something about the spirit of this human being and the goodness she wants to spread with the gifts she has been given.
She is the voice of a movement with more than just lip service, she has used her own hands to help build homes and orphanages in Tijuana, Mexico for the less fortunate and stretches forth her arms out to feed the homeless. From Northern California to Southern California on skid row in downtown Los Angeles extending all the way to Africa. She shows love and patience for several thousands of men, woman, and children and the list goes on. She just wants to be the difference and leave this world better than it was when she got here. Music has a way of doing just that, so that is exactly what she will use to make this world more beautiful. Touching one soul at a time with her heart felt music, voice and lyrics. Oh and smiles of course!
